HMRC files winding-up petition against fee-share firm Mezzle

By: Non-Billable30 Sept 2026
Fee-share law firm Mezzle Limited has been served with a winding-up petition by HMRC over unpaid tax. Chief executive Mel Kang says the matter is expected to be resolved shortly.

HMRC has agreed not to advertise the petition or take further action for now. Mezzle, founded in 2021 by Kang and Raj Sumal, runs a fee-share model with 35 lawyers across London, Birmingham, Manchester, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The petition comes as Kang and Sumal are embroiled in a separate shareholder dispute. Non-executive director Jeff Zindani has also recently stepped down from the board.
