HMRC files winding-up petition against landfill operator Valencia Waste

Valencia became a major landfill operator in 2022 after buying Viridor's landfill and landfill-gas business, covering 44 sites. It also holds 36 closed or mothballed sites.

The amount owed is unclear. A company spokesperson said Valencia was not at risk of being wound up. The petition follows a similar HMRC case against landfill operator Caird Peckfield, which was compulsorily liquidated.
