HMRC winding-up petition hits VMS Fleet Management

By: Bodyshop Magazine5 Oct 2026
Fleet management firm VMS (Fleet Management) Limited is facing a winding-up petition presented by HM Revenue & Customs. The company told suppliers and funders on 16 September 2026 that it cannot currently pay creditors while directors take professional advice.

VMS said the freeze on payments was to avoid favouring any one creditor over another while its board considers next steps. Companies House still lists the company as active.

The National Body Repair Association, whose members include bodyshops owed money or holding vehicles linked to VMS work, is gathering details of outstanding invoices to assess the scale of exposure. A petition does not necessarily mean the company will be wound up.
