VMS Fleet Management, a contract hire and fleet management business with about 6,570 vehicles, has entered administration after 24 years. Administrators from BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed on Tuesday, 20 October, and 136 staff have been made redundant.

Latest status: VMS (Fleet Management) Limited – Administration (20 Oct 2026)

Jeremy Karr, Simon Killick and Joanne Louise Hammond are the joint administrators. Barclays Bank, which held a qualifying floating charge and had provided an invoice finance facility, introduced BTG after the company ran into financial difficulties. A sale as a going concern was attempted but no viable offers emerged.

A controlled wind-down is under way, with 24 employees retained. Barclays had served a winding-up petition last week.
