SnackVerse: administrator appointed after four years in business

Kieran Bourne of Cromwell & Co Insolvency Practitioners is the administrator. A public notice published on 5 November confirmed the appointment. Further information is available from Jennifer Verdon of Cromwell Insolvency Limited.

The company delivers monthly boxes of snacks from different countries. The smallest box, with at least five snacks, costs GBP 7.99. A standard box with ten or more snacks and a drink is GBP 13.99, while the premium box, with 20 or more snacks and several drinks, is GBP 23.99. Several food influencers have promoted the business, and it has more than 35,000 Instagram followers.

Two advertising rulings

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled against the firm twice this year. The first ruling came in May. It found misleading claims about previous boxes on the company's website. A customer had complained of not receiving boxes themed around the advertised countries. The company could not show that other subscribers had received them.

The second came on 9 October. This time the ASA found a breach of promotional marketing rules. The website carried a 50 per cent off offer with a countdown timer that restarted once it expired. The ASA said it had contacted the company but received no assurance that the site would change.

Details of the ruling stay on the ASA website until the claims are removed or amended. The timer was still visible on 5 November.
