Liberty Steel Newport placed into liquidation, three joint liquidators appointed

By: SteelOrbis27 Oct 2026
Liberty Steel Newport Limited, formerly MIR Steel UK Limited and part of the Liberty Steel group, entered liquidation on 13 October 2026. Three joint liquidators were appointed after Siemens Financial Services presented a winding-up petition against the hot rolled coil producer in July.

Latest status: Liberty Steel Newport Limited – Winding-up petition (12 Oct 2026)

The liquidators are Mark Robert Fry of BTG Begbies Traynor (London) LLP, and Benjamin John Wiles and Robert Armstrong of Kroll Advisory Ltd. Creditors must submit their claims by 19 November 2026 or risk exclusion from earlier distributions.

Production at Newport was idled under the group's 2023 restructuring plan.
