Glens of Antrim Potatoes enters administration, 95 jobs lost at Ballymena firm

Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd, a Northern Ireland potato supplier and crisp maker based in Cushendall and Ballymena, has ceased trading after entering administration. Interpath Advisory's Stuart Irwin, Ian Leonard and Robin Coughlin were appointed joint administrators on 21 September.

Latest status: Glens Of Antrim Potatoes Limited – Administration (2 Oct 2026)

Nearly all of the company's 95 staff have been made redundant, with only a few kept on to assist the administration. Cash flow pressure, linked to rising costs across the agri-food sector, was cited as the cause. Directors looked at refinancing and new investment, but neither proved viable.

The business, founded in 1972, launched its crisp brand in 2015. The administrators are now seeking buyers for the business and its assets.
