Bodycare collapses into administration, all 150 stores to close

By: Administration List26 Sept 2026
Health and beauty chain Bodycare, trading from a Lancashire base for 55 years, entered administration on 5 September 2025 after an abandoned 2024 stock market flotation left an expansion plan without funding. Total debts exceed £30 million, with an estimated £34.9 million deficiency to creditors.

A £7 million debt facility secured over summer 2025 only delayed matters. Administrators closed an initial 32 stores with around 450 redundancies, then wound down the rest of the near-150-strong estate within weeks, taking total job losses to roughly 1,400. No buyer emerged for the business as a going concern.

HMRC is owed around £3 million as preferential creditor, with unsecured creditors facing losses of about £29.8 million.
