Featherstone Rovers Rugby League Football Club Limited – Administration: Featherstone Rovers: two takeover bids in play after last December's administration

Two takeover bids are understood to be under consideration for Featherstone Rovers, which entered administration last December amid a winding-up petition over unpaid debts. A decision could pave the way for a return to the Championship next season.

Latest status: Featherstone Rovers Rugby League Football Club Limited – Administration (23 Dec 2025)

The company owed more than £120,000 in unpaid tax and struggled with wages after chairman Paddy Handley left. The RFL rejected a sole bid in January, citing insufficient assurances. Among the live proposals is a consortium led by former head coach Paul Cooke.

Wakefield Council is expected to approve £500,000, matched by the RFL, towards buying Post Office Road and leasing it to a new operator.
